My co-worker gave me the idea of letting the kids pick an ornament each year to add to the tree. She said let them pick something that they are into that year. Before they could choose for themselves, I started collecting an ornament from any annual trips we took (before kids we were able to take one a year), so those became the ornament for that year. So the girls started this tradition maybe three years ago. Ali chose some princess ones and Sammie had her 1st Christmas one. Then the next year Ali chose Hello Kitty and Sammie chose Sesame Street. This year we decided to head over to Michael's on Black Friday. We weren't looking for ornaments that early, but they were all 50% off. So, we sent the girls off ornament hunting. They each chose a snowflake looking one. Ali's is pink and pearly and Sammie's is clear and glass like. Instead of choosing a Baby's 1st Christmas for Josiah - well, because it wasn't really his first Christmas. This is what we chose. It says it all. We couldn't have been happier to have spent Christmas together this year.
