recovery

It is now the weekend that our doctor said Josiah should be eating back to normal, but he definitely does not want his bottle. So tonight I decided to make him a banana, breastmilk, and oatmeal shake! I have never thought to put the breastmilk in the blender, but it worked great! He had almost 5.5 oz this way. He wouldn't even have more than two drops from his bottle. So, this may be the best way. Just blend everything and spoon feed him for now. I wonder how long this will last. He isn't supposed to suck on anything right now, so it could be awhile. We have four more weeks until his post-op appointment.

He has a hole in his palate. His OT checked his palate and saw a small hole. I called the doctor and he said, "Don't look in the mouth." Things are still healing, etc. He said that there will be holes, white stuff and it's smells. So, it's not pleasant. Please pray that he won't need another surgery for his palate.

I learned that the reason why he didn't touch his nose this time around was because Josiah scars thickly. His nose is so small that the scar would block his airway. Dr. Reinisch didn't want to risk it, so he said that we should do surgery when his nose gets bigger. This may be when he is four or so.

He is usually in good spirits, but the feeding and sleeping are not back yet. We are tired. Please pray for rest for everyone.

  3. make sure he drinks water after each feeding to wash any residual food that might be left at the stitches...
