He has no fever or diarrhea. He mostly coughs and then throws up. Sometimes he is eating and sometimes he is just playing or laughing.
Today I took him to see his regular pediatrician and he put him on a breathing machine. I have never had to do this before with any of the other kids. He screamed, kicked, and fought with all of his strength the entire time. They said it would take around 7 minutes, but it felt like an hour. He wouldn't stop screaming even after the machine was turned off. Sammie kept asking what was taking the doctor so long! Josiah is now pretty strong. I couldn't hold him the entire time. I had to set him on table to rest. He was MAD! He didn't want me to just hold him. He wanted out of the room. He didn't want to be in the same room as that machine anymore.
Finally the doctor came in and told me that we get to have our very own breathing machine! Thankfully at home we have other distractions. He was completely different at home then he was in the doctor's office. He even calmed down a bit and let my husband put the straps on him! Amazing. Of course I had to go grab my camera for this moment.
All of them have been playing with these light sabers from their cousins. So, it was fun to pretend that Josiah was Darth Vader.

Sammie said, "Look Mommy, Dark Vader and his wife."
Please pray for our Dark Vader. Today was the first day that he hasn't thrown up in a long time. He almost threw up twice, but nothing to very little came out.

oh teresa!!! i'm so sorry. i just heard today from liz about josiah. we will be praying for him. do you know what is making him throw up? why does he need a breathing machine?
ReplyDeleteoh those pictures are so sad. i'm glad he does better with it at home. HE IS A TROOPER!!!!!
Thanks, Emily. The machine just helps open up his airway. He needs to do it four times a day, so it's not all the time. Yeah, me too. I'm glad he does better at home, too! The doctor thinks it's because of all the mucus and congestion. He may have asthma, but he's not sure yet.
ReplyDeleteoh no teresa! i'm so sorry. praying that he'll do better on a nebulizer.
