pray for Torin and the Kawai family

These are our dear friends who organized more than 6 weeks of meals for us during the Josiah's stay in the hospital. They also organized meals for my bed rest time. We are so blessed by the Kawai family.

Torin is three years old and he is in recovery right now. He will need to stay in the hospital for five days. When they opened him up they learned that his appendix had already burst. The doctor cleaned him up as best as she could. They will monitor him to see if he has a fever. Pray that she cleaned everything out and that he will not have a fever. He has a tube down his nose to drain some fluids from his stomach and he is attached to IVs to keep him hydrated. They needed to restrain him so he wouldn't pull any of these out. The nurse has taken the restraints off and they're hoping that he won't try to pull anything out. He came out of the OR crying and he is now drifting in and out of sleep. He had a rough night last night. He was feeling a lot of pain and for some reason the pain meds were not working. Kirsten was up with him most of the night and the nights before.

He was complaining of pain on Thursday and Friday. Doctor misdiagnosed it as constipation. He was not doing well. Saturday night they came to the ER and they said he had appendicitis, but they couldn't perform the surgery right away because he was too dehydrated. They still don't know how long his appendix has been ruptured. They think it might have burst on Saturday.

I went to see them tonight and he was asleep. I know all too well the pain of watching your baby have an ng tube and IVs. Please pray for the Kawai family. They have another son, Raith. He is about 18 months and thankfully his grandma is flying in from MN to take care of him. His dad just said that Torin was talking and more like himself right before he left to go home. Praise God!
