Vegas, baby!

We were able to take two trips this summer! J.R. was going to be back for a week before he had to go back to college, so we planned a trip to Vegas. He loves the food there, but we didn't even get to go to his favorite. Sorry, J.R. We had a wonderful time with grandma and grandpa, too!

What do you do in Vegas with young children and 100+ degree weather? Go swimming, course! Would you believe that at the beginning of the summer our kids did not know how to swim? Now look at them!

Here is Sammie swimming to Jojo. He was so good with them!

Akong is helping Ali learn how to float on her back and swim to the wall. This was a surprise for me because we have all been very afraid of my dad when it comes to the pool. He is proud to say that he taught all three of us how to swim by throwing us in the pool. Yes, we were kicking and screaming and what not! When Ali was younger he tried to do something similar, but we weren't too thrilled about it and neither was she! So, this was a sweet moment. She kept on trying and he was very patient with her!

And she is off!

Ali is very proud of herself for making it to the wall on her back!

Even Sammie gave it a try! I was proud of her for trying.

As I was shooting video of my brother and Ali in the lazy river I was approached by an Asian woman. I thought she was going to ask me about my camera, but she asked me if I was Teresa or Shirley! It turns out she was a childhood friend of ours and they were on their minimoon! She and her husband let us borrow their huge inflatable to ride the lazy river. It was super nice of them! Thanks, Bonnie and James!

She did NOT like the waterfall, but she still gave me a cute smile afterwards! Who says they have a Mammrazzi as a mom?

This is how Sammie really felt about the waterfall.

Akong took this picture of us all trying to stay cool.

You won't believe this, but my mom offered to watch all three kids while the four of us went to her favorite restaurant, Picasso at the Bellagio! It doesn't make any sense, but we took her up on it. And it was definitely THE BEST dinning experience of my life! And we forgot our camera! But my dad didn't. However, the shots that we took with the fountains did not turn out, so you'll just have to imagine them. When we got there, the tables in the patio were almost empty. My dad asked us if we wanted to sit outside next to the Bellagio water fountains! It was pretty warm, but the water from the fountains cooled us off! That's how close we were sitting! That is our table right there. Every 15 minutes we had front row seats to the best show in Vegas - the water dancing. It was spectacular! And the food!
Raisin walnut bread, Quail salad, Foie Gras, Milk fed Veal chop, Earl Grey cheesecake. The cheesecake was really J.R's, but mine wasn't that great so I don't remember what it was.

The best part was coming back to the hotel room and our kids were bathed and asleep! YES! Thank you, mom and dad for such an amazing evening!

Then the next day while Josiah was napping, we snuck out! My mom watched him while we headed over to the Venetian to ride a gondola. The girls love listening to the Vivaldi story from Classical Kids and one of the main characters is a gondolier. So, this was a lot of fun. We also had out own photographer - my brother. He ran around taking pictures of us while we rode. It is a good thing we didn't bring Josiah along because they only allowed four per gondola! He would've been really bummed!
Here we are entering the gondola.

The girls really wanted to pose for pictures.

Do we have to look at the camera? No. So, this is what they came up with.

  1. Your Vegas vacation sure looks a lot more fun than ours!!! =) And I'd love to try floating down that lazy river ... Great pictures, so glad you got to get away and eat your hearts out!

And yay that all three are swimming. Great progress! It's sooo much more fun when they can swim (instead of them hanging on to you), huh?

  2. Yes! It makes a huge difference when they are swimming. Although, Josiah is still not quite there yet. But he's getting there with Junior as his inspiration.
